Loweswater village is a meandering collection of houses, farms, small hotels, B&B’s and guest houses. At the heart of the village is the pub, the church and the village Hall.
As one of the quieter lakes it is a perfect stopover to recharge the batteries and rest the tired limbs. The Lake itself is owned by the National Trust and is small in comparison to most at just over one mile in length. Along one side of the Lake is a beautiful woodland walk.
Rowing boats can be rented on the Lake and there is even a bothy for hire from the National Trust on the Lake side, although the accommodation is somewhat basic!
The Loweswater Show is held every year in September and is a traditional country show featuring arts, crafts, cumberland wrestling, hound trailing, fell running, livestock judging, horse events and also the ever popular beer tent!
Accommodation is available at several B&B’s, guest houses and local campsites.
